Fayette Custom Wire Products is proficient in cold rolling processing capabilities, which is an essential technique in the wire manufacturing industry. Cold rolling is a process that involves the shaping of wire by passing it through a series of rollers and edgers at temperatures below its recrystallization temperature. This process enhances the strength and hardness of the wire while improving the surface finish. It also allows precise control over the final dimensions of the wire. This capability, combined with our stringent quality control measures, ensures that our cold-rolled wire products meet the highest standards of quality, strength, and durability, catering to the specific needs of our customers across various industries.
We've also honed our skills in wire drawing processing, a key method in the wire manufacturing sector. Wire drawing involves reducing the cross-section of the wire by pulling it through a series of dies, each smaller than the previous one. This process refines the wire's diameter, increases its length, and improves its mechanical properties such as strength and hardness. With careful control over the drawing process, we can consistently produce wire that meets precise dimensional requirements and exhibits the desired characteristics for specific applications across various industries.
Over 50 years ago, Fayette Custom Wire Products began as a steel wire drawing facility utilizing hot rolled rod to produce a wide range of various size sections including rounds, flats, hexagons, squares, and other special shapes in both coil and straight lengths for consumer and industrial applications. Today, Fayette manufactures various grades of nonferrous and ferrous grades of alloy, low carbon and high carbon wire in rounds and special shapes. Our versatile wire can be used in a variety of end use products including POP displays, tie wire, cages, just to name a few.

These are the benefits of Cold Drawn Steel Wire More accurate dimensional size tolerances:
Fayette Custom Wire Products specializes in producing deformed wire, a unique type of wire recognized for its non-round cross section. This production process enhances the mechanical properties of the wire, providing improved tensile strength and bonding capabilities.
The heat treating process is a technique that significantly influences the mechanical properties of the metal. This process involves heating the metal without reaching its molten or melting stage, followed by controlled cooling. The primary objective of this method is to enhance the metal's strength or malleability, increase its resistance to abrasion, or improve its ductility. The end result is a wire product that is specifically tailored to meet the desired mechanical properties, thereby catering to the unique requirements of various applications across different industries.
Galvanized steel wire plays a vital role in a myriad of applications due to its enhanced durability and resistance to rust. In the construction industry, it is often used for binding materials together. Its high tensile strength and resistance to wear and tear make it an excellent choice for securing structural elements, providing a reliable reinforcement to ensure the stability and longevity of buildings and infrastructures.
The manufacturing of wire and wire rod includes a crucial cleaning and coating process. To ensure the high quality and performance of our products, we start with descaling the wire rod. This can be achieved through a mechanical or chemical process, depending on the nature of the scale and the desired finish. After the descaling process, a coating is applied to the wire or wire rod. The type of coating chosen depends on the requirements of the subsequent processes or the end product.
Available coatings include zinc phosphate, lime, lube, or polymer. Each of these coatings offers specific benefits, such as enhancing the product's resistance to corrosion, improving its mechanical properties, or ensuring its compatibility with certain manufacturing processes.
FCWP produces straightened and cut wire to specific lengths and dimensions. This process involves using specialized machines and techniques to straighten the wire and make it free of kinks and bends. Once the wire has been straightened, it is cut to the desired length using precision cutting machines. The result is a high-quality wire that is straight, consistent in size, and ready for use in various industrial applications.
Advantages of Straight and Cut Wire
There are numerous advantages to using straightened and cut wire in the supply chain process, including the following:
Consistent Quality: Straightened and cut wire is consistent in size, shape, and quality. This means that manufacturers can rely on a constant supply of wire that meets their specifications.
Improved Productivity: Using straightened and cut wire can help streamline the production process, reducing the time and resources required to produce goods. This, in turn, improves productivity and reduces costs.
Enhanced Safety: Wire that has been straightened and cut is less likely to cause accidents on the production line. Workers are less likely to be injured by kinks or sharp edges, and the wire is less likely to cause damage to other equipment.
Efficient Inventory Management: When wire is straightened and cut to specific lengths, it takes up less space in storage. This means businesses can store more wire in the same area, reducing the inventory they need to keep on hand.
Improved Delivery Times: By using straightened and cut wire, manufacturers can reduce the time required to produce goods. This means that they can get their products to market faster, which is particularly important in industries where speed to market is critical.
Straightened and cut wire is crucial in streamlining the supply chain process. By providing consistent quality, improving productivity, enhancing safety, and efficient inventory management, straightened and cut wire helps manufacturers produce goods more efficiently and effectively. Both small businesses and large multinational corporations can benefit from straightened and cut wire.
Using the latest technological advances for our industry, our Engineers will work with you to guarantee proper tooling is developed. Once the tooling is designed, it is tested in a virtual environment to ensure the desired outcome is achieved. This rigorous testing process prevents us from accumulating scrap, which in turn, saves you money. Once approved, our Machinists will skillfully craft the tooling using state of the art CNC machining centers.
Every aspect of your order is carefully reviewed and planned before it goes into production. We take pride in our ability to give you precisely what you need in the most cost efficient, on-time manner.
Descaling can be achieved either through a chemical or mechanical process. When chemically descaled the steel wire rod is dipped into an acid bath which removes the scale. When the rod is removed from the acid bath it is coated with either lime, phosphate, or polymer lubricant which helps with lubrication and rust prevention. Bar products are also sometimes coated with oil.
The mechanical process involves either a series of reverse bends which breaks the scale into powder or flakes and also shot blasting, which involves shooting the steel with small pellets at high speeds.
